Flint Energy Services’ two-storey atrium space showcases intricate detailing, a spectacular stair and balustrade, and an unusual angled layout of the office component on two levels. All furnishings were selected to complement the colours of the built space.

This light and airy suite reflects the personality of the Deputy Minister and provides a backdrop for the collection of Aboriginal artifacts and artwork that have been given to the Ministry.

Great Care was taken during the design process to ensure the design, finishes and materials created the optimal atmosphere for the department. This renovation was the first step in implementing new office standards for the Ministry, some of the elements include:

  • A flexible, re-configurable, movable wall system.
  • Access to natural light and exterior views for all employees.
  • Incorporation of seamless technologies for presentation in the boardroom.

Peace Hills Insurance

The seamless integration of one additional office floor was the mandate given by Peace Hills. The curved staircase with its wood veneer finish was extended to connect the 2nd floor to floors 3 and 4. The reception desk was modified to suit its new locale. Carpeting was upgraded throughout. A newly designed lunch room, office space and meeting rooms had to complement the previous design, while showcasing the extensive art collection.

The design reflected the professional engineering areas of practice:

  • Structural
  • Water
  • Transportation
  • Infrastructure

Structural was depicted in the reception desk, I-beam supported off of glass.

Water was represented by the clear and blue acrylic waiting area dividing panels.

Transportation was reflected in the floor finish materials and patterns.

Infrastructure was captured by exposing the infrastructure of the building at strategic ceiling locations.
